Christian Historical Image Collection

34 historic DeLand images contributed by Christian and collected over time from family, friends, and community sources.

    Community historical collection

Christian shared this collection of historic DeLand photographs gathered over many years from family, friends, and other community sources. Together, the images preserve views of Woodland Boulevard, early downtown businesses, Stetson, the College Arms Hotel, Lake Beresford, and everyday life in earlier DeLand.

Titles and dates follow the information supplied with each scan and our ongoing historical research. Some dates are approximate and a few subjects are still being identified — nothing has been invented to fill a gap, and unknown details are left open for local knowledge to refine.

    Woodland Boulevard Through the Years

Read left to right, these dated photographs trace the main street of DeLand from a sandy carriage road in the 1880s through the 1886 fire, the first brick blocks, and the paved boulevard of the early twentieth century. Only images with a known or approximate date appear in this sequence.
